A LETTER TO DEMOCRATS in the 126th DISTRICT

If you're a Democrat, you may be wondering why you should consider voting for me.

That's a fair question.

I am a Republican, and I'm not asking you to ignore our differences or pretend they don't exist. I believe in personal responsibility, safe communities, fiscal accountability, respect for taxpayers, and creating opportunities for people to build better lives through hard work. Those values are part of who I am, and I won't abandon them to win an election.

But I've learned something over the course of my life and career.

Most people care far more about whether their family is safe, whether their children are receiving a good education, whether their parents can afford to retire, and whether they can make ends meet than they do about political labels.

I'm Miguel Vasquez. I'm a husband, a father of nine in a blended family, a former school board director, a licensed real estate agent, and someone who has spent more than twenty years working in public service and community programs right here in our region.

I've spent my career helping people with disabilities, seniors, struggling families, nonprofit organizations, and individuals trying to create better futures for themselves. When you're helping a family find housing, supporting someone with a disability, or connecting people to services they desperately need, politics becomes secondary. What matters is whether you can solve the problem.

Those experiences shaped who I am. They also shaped the kind of representative I would be.

I've knocked on doors throughout Reading, Muhlenberg, Laureldale, Temple, and the surrounding communities. I've listened to Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and people who have simply become frustrated with politics altogether.

And despite what we're told, most of us want many of the same things.

• Safe neighborhoods.

• Strong public schools.

• Good-paying jobs and economic opportunity.

• Affordable healthcare and better access to mental health services.

• Roads and infrastructure that are maintained.

• Government that spends our tax dollars responsibly.

• Elected officials who listen.

I understand why many Democrats value strong public education, healthcare access, worker opportunity, services for seniors and individuals with disabilities, and treating every person with dignity and respect.

I do too.

As a former school board director, I support strong public schools and expanded career and technical education programs that prepare students for real careers.

I support expanding apprenticeship opportunities and workforce development programs that connect people with good-paying jobs right here in Pennsylvania.

I support improving access to mental and behavioral healthcare because too many families struggle to find help when they need it.

I support protecting services for seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities because I've seen firsthand how important those programs are to maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life.

I support responsible investment in roads, bridges, water systems, and broadband because these are not partisan issues. They are quality-of-life issues.

And I support greater transparency and accountability in government because taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent.

Being willing to work with Democrats does not mean abandoning my Republican values.

It means recognizing that no political party has a monopoly on good ideas.

It means putting our community ahead of politics.

It means listening honestly, treating people with respect, and finding common ground whenever possible.

I don't expect us to agree on every issue. In fact, I wouldn't expect that.

But I hope you'll look beyond the letter next to my name and consider my record, my character, and my commitment to this community.

If elected, I will represent every resident of the 126th District: Democrat, Republican, Independent, or unaffiliated.

Because once Election Day is over, we're all neighbors. And that's exactly how I'll serve.
